Our biggest game of the season but unfortunately due to various reasons only had 9 players available which meant no subs after not playing for nearly two months so it was always going to be tough.
Letchworth started really strongly and were rewarded with a goal from a penalty. After soaking up a lot of early pressure we slowly started to get into the game and then scored a great goal just before half time from RACHAEL after a pass from hope. H/T 1-1
The 2nd half started the same with letchworth well on top but we were defending brilliantly to stop them scoring. Midway through the half against the run of play CLAIRE burst through the letchworth defence and smashed the ball into the net to put us 2-1 up.
The rest of the game saw the girls defending heroically to keep our lead which we did until 5 mins to go but then conceded after a goal from an unstoppable shot from outside the box.F/T2-2
Extra time was then to be played and with the girls absolutely shattered and about 4 players playing with injuries we eventually lose the game 5-2.
The girls should be so proud of how they played today they gave absolutely everything but the fact we had no subs was to be the telling factor.
GIRL OF GAME-KATIE NIELD- Katie worked her socks off today and never stopped running until the final whistle.
WELL DONE!
